CAROL ANDERSON is an associate professor of African-American studies and history at Emory University. She is the author of Eyes Off the Prize: The United Nations and the African American Struggle for Human Rights 1944-1955 (2003). JEFFREY JAMES BYRNE is an assistant professor of history at the University of British Columbia. He has written articles on the international history of the developing world for the International Journal of Middle East Studies, Diplomatic History, and other journals. His first book, Mecca of Revolution: Algeria, Decolonization, and the Global Third World Project is forthcoming from Oxford University Press.
